OLD-SCHOOL GOLDEN SYRUP DUMPLINGS = COSY DESSERT DREAM ✨🍯
If you grew up with warm golden syrup dumplings on chilly nights, you know the magic. This is my easy, throw-it-in-a-pot version that bubbles away into sweet, sticky, fluffy perfection. It’s rich, nostalgic, and the ultimate comfort food – especially when you top it with ice cream or a splash of cream. You’ve got to try it!

Ingredients

  • ½ cup brown sugar
  • ½ cup golden syrup
  • 2 cups water
  • 50 g butter
  • cups self-raising flour
  • 1 cup yoghurt

Method

  1. In a big saucepan (make sure it has a lid!), add the brown sugar, golden syrup, water and butter. Bring it to the boil.
  2. While that’s happening, mix the self-raising flour and yoghurt together in a bowl to make a soft dough.
  3. Once your syrup mix is bubbling, break the dough into meatball-sized dumplings and gently drop them into the liquid.
  4. Pop the lid on, turn the heat to low, and let it gently simmer for 20 minutes – no peeking!
  5. Serve warm with cream, custard or ice cream.
