Why This Banoffee Dessert Salad is a Must-Try
There are countless reasons why this Banoffee Dessert Salad is one of my favourites, but let me give you the highlights:
- No baking required: It’s a no-bake recipe, which means less stress and more fun in the kitchen.
- Customisable layers: You can add as many layers as your heart desires! This dessert looks gorgeous in a clear trifle dish, showing off all those drool-worthy layers.
- Perfectly balanced flavours: The sweetness of the caramel pairs beautifully with the freshness of the bananas, the creaminess of the custard, and the crunch of the biscuits. It’s pure perfection in every bite.

Pro Tips for the Best Banoffee Dessert Salad 🌟
The secret to perfect caramel: Prepping the caramel is super easy if you follow my slow cooker trick. Just pop a can of sweetened condensed milk into your slow cooker, cover it completely with water, and let it cook until it transforms into gooey, golden caramel. This method is foolproof and creates a luscious caramel that’s the heart of this dessert.
Keep your bananas fresh: Bananas can brown quickly, and nobody wants mushy fruit in their dessert salad. To keep them looking and tasting fresh, chop the bananas only when you’re ready to assemble your layers. If you’re preparing this dish a little in advance, toss the banana slices in a bit of lemon juice to stop them from oxidising.
Use premium ingredients: Since this dessert relies on a handful of simple ingredients, quality makes all the difference. Choose fresh bananas, a creamy custard (store-bought or homemade – both work!), and premium biscuits. For an Aussie touch, I love using Arnott’s Cookies and Cream Biscuits in this recipe. 🍪
Whipping cream tips: Whip your cream to stiff peaks with a splash of vanilla extract for a fragrant, airy topping. Over-whipping can lead to grainy cream, so keep an eye on it. If you want to stabilise the cream for a longer-lasting salad, add a spoonful of icing sugar while whipping.

How to Serve Your Banoffee Dessert Salad 🍴
This Banoffee Dessert Salad is best served in a large, clear bowl or trifle dish to showcase its beautiful layers. It’s perfect for sharing with a crowd (and trust me, they’ll love it). If you want to go fancy, you can even assemble it in individual glasses for a dinner party. Top each serving with a marshmallow, a dollop of caramel, and a whole cookie for that extra wow factor!
Pair this dessert with a hot cup of coffee or tea, or keep it light and serve it with a fruity mocktail – I personally love it alongside a refreshing mango spritzer. 🥭✨
Storage Options for Banoffee Dessert Salad 🥶
Got leftovers? Lucky you! This Banoffee Dessert Salad keeps well in the fridge for up to 2 days. Here’s how to store it properly:
- Cover tightly: Use cling film to cover the dish, ensuring no air gets in. Alternatively, if you’ve made it in individual glasses, cover them with lids or plastic wrap.
- Avoid freezer storage: Due to the bananas and whipped cream, this dessert doesn’t freeze well – it can turn watery and lose its creamy texture.
- Layer smartly: If you plan to make this in advance, you can assemble all the layers except the bananas and cream. Add those just before serving to keep it looking and tasting fresh.

Banoffee Dessert Salad
Ingredients
Method
- Pre prepare Caramel Sauce by placing the can of condensed milk in your slow cooker with water just covering it, cooking on high for 5 hours or low for 10 until it turns into Caramel. Make sure the water is always covering the can.
- Allow the can to cool completely before opening.
- Add Cream into the mix master with a splash of Vanilla and whip it until stiff peaks form.
- Before constructing the Salad, cut the Marshmallows in halves and chop the Bananas (don’t chop them till you are ready to assemble the Dessert Salad or they will go brown).
- To assemble the Dessert Salad, start by adding a layer of the Vanilla Custard to the bowl, then add a layer of Marshmallows (don’t miss the edges)
- Next layer is the Cookies and Cream Chocolate Biscuits. Break the Biscuits and sprinkle it over the Custard and Marshmallows layers.
- Now, a layer of Bananas followed by cream. Spread the layer of Cream evenly over the Bananas. Finally, add dollops of Caramelised Condensed Milk.
- Now, let’s do it all over again. Create as many layers as you like. Finish it off with some Marshmallows and whole Cookies.

Absolutely! You can assemble it a few hours in advance, but for the freshest results, add the bananas and whipped cream just before serving.
Yes, if you’re short on time, a store-bought caramel sauce will work. However, making your own caramelised condensed milk takes the flavour to the next level!
Of course! You can use any biscuit you like – Digestives, Graham crackers, or even chocolate chip cookies would work beautifully. If you want a gluten-free version, opt for GF biscuits.
